A tooth inside the jaw bone is the best way to preserve the bone as long as there is no disease process going on. Once teeth are lost the bone begins to resorb or lost.

Once this process occurs to be a candidate for implants you may need a bone restoration procedure otherwise known as a bone graft. The purpose of the bone graft is to restore the bone to its original shape and form to allow the most natural looking and successful implant possible.

In the recent past a deficiency in bone meant that you were not a candidate for implant therapy. We now have the ability to "grow" bone in just about any situation. I our office we offer the latest in bone grafting technologies. The bone graft procedures are referred to as:
Ridge-augmentation
In cases where there has been trauma or tooth loss the height and width are lost on the alveolar ridge. It is vital to restore the bone in both dimensions to have predictable results.

Sinus Lift Procedure
In many cases the sinus in the upper jaw bone sags into the area where the implant needs to be placed. A sinus lift is the lifting of the sinus membrane and placement of bone underneath it. In many cases the implant can be places at the same time. In severe cases the sinus lift may need to be done as a separate procedure.
Platelet Rich Plasma
The latest in bone grafting technology is the use of Platelet Rich Plasma. In our office we do offer this procedure in conjunction with all of our bone grafting procedures. This new technology allows us to achieve bone growth that was not previously possible as well as a speeding up of the healing process.
